I performed as If / When at the Sunny High Club in Stuttgart – Bad Cannstatt on Friday March 21. The set was made of mostly new sounds I’ve recorded over the last couple of years, including field recordings, synthesized sounds, and moments captured from web-based shortwave radio. While preparing, I was thinking a lot about two friends from an older generation who recently passed away. Both were massively inspiring and influential for me, and so the performance was also a memorial of sorts to them.

The Sunny High Club is located in the Schwaben Bräu Passage and is accessible from the pedestrian street between the Bad Cannstatt S-Bahn station and Wilhelmsplatz. There’s a good sound system there and the Verein responsible for the club is doing great things for the city.
Rolle Vorwärts is a series curated by Michael Fiedler and Herb, showcasing a variety of approaches to electronic music, often with an emphasis on experimentation and including local musicians and video/light artists. Events in the series have been happening every three months or so at Sunny High. The format is something special as all of the artists set up on one large table in the middle of the room, with only brief pauses between performances.
